Prior to teaching I served in the Air Force for 5 Years. I have traveled to
certain parts of the world and enjoyed some great experiences. I earned my
B.A. in History from the Univ. of Texas at San Antonio and my Masters from Bard
College. I am very happy to a part of the VWJHS family and even more as a
member of the S.S. department.
My mission for the 7th grade classes is to develop independent thinkers
examining history, not just as dates and facts ready for memorization and
regurgitation, but to analyze how history shapes the present. I want them
to
analyze the "change over time" and be able to relate what they know and
understand from their history books and to apply it conceptually. I want
them to ask tough questions and develop ownership of the material they are
learning so it becomes a natural thinking process not a memorized
experience.
