I have been the Library Media Specialist at Vassar Road since January 2001. I received my Masters in Information and Library Science from Long Island University in 2001 and started teaching at Vassar soon afterwards. It is wonderful to be able to share my love of both books and information with students and teachers. I love to read and usually have several great books going at the same time since I try to keep up with a mixture of adult and children's literature. I'm often asked what I like to read so here's some of the more recent books I just finished and enjoyed in adult, young adult and children's literature during Summer 2009:
Adult Lit: Jodi Piccoult's Handle with Care
Young Adult Lit: Twilight series
Children's Lit: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs - this I reread to get ready for the upcoming movie in September!
I grew up locally and am a graduate of the district, having been a student at Van Wyck JH and Roy C. Ketcham HS. I've been married for eight years to Mr. Coyne and we live in the Glenham area between Fishkill and Beacon. We enjoy nature and outdoor activities such as camping and hiking. This summer, we camped on the beach in Montauk in July and spent another week in August exploring the North Woods of Maine. Take a look at the student computers in the library to see some animal and nature photographs taken by us during our travels!

We have a full house of pets that the students hear about all the time! Our cat, Mrs. Butterworth, rules the house with some help from our pet python Jewel, our fish Caspar, and nine newts (all adopted from our Kindergarten Science 21 studies in the spring).
