Spelling Homework
Every week the assignment will be the same. The only difference will be the
words for the week. If there is a day off, the Homework is still expected to
be done. You may choose to do more than one night's spelling at a time to
allow for nights that are busy with after school activities. All spelling HW
is due by Friday. All Homework is expected to be done using NEAT handwriting
and correct letter formation. If the HW is not done using this format, I will
kindly ask the child to re-do the HW.
Monday: Write each word 3x each (paper will come home for this assignment)
Tuesday: Choose 5 words and write them in sentences.
Wednesday: Choose the remaining 5 words and write them in sentences.
Thursday: Choose 5 words to write in ABC order AND study for test!
Friday: Weekly Spelling Test!
** Please note - At this point in the year for Tuesday & Wednesday's Homework,
inventive spelling is acceptable. CVC (Consonant, Vowel, Consonant), words
that contain digraphs and trick words should be spelled correctly when writing
sentences. Any other untaught concepts/lesson words, inventive spelling is
acceptable and encourage for your child to try to sound the words out. As we
learn new concepts throughout the year, the student's will be expected to use
what they have learned when writing their sentences.
