You may do each extra credit once for 10
points each. Extra credit may be turned in until the last day of the quarter.
Students may add one or more extra credit assignments onto a single assignment
to bring up a grade, or disperse the extra credit assignments across several
class assignment grades. However, the maximum grade for any class assignment
or the final average is 100. (For example, if you had a 91 on a class
assignment, and you added an extra credit, the grade would cap at 100.)
Option 1:
Find an article in a magazine or newspaper ( or an online
magazine or newspaper), in which someone has made a life-altering choice. Use
the steps of decision making from your notes and "resolve" the
problem/decision of the person in the article. Include the article (or copy)
with your write-up.
Option 2:
Select one of the books you have read in sixth grade or
Jr. High ELA. Write a brief summary of the story, and don't forget to include
the author and title. Then explain how the character(s) modeled the seven
pillars of character. (See Health Packet)

Watch a movie, with a teen target audience (Make sure it
is okay with your parents first). Write a brief summary of the movie, and

-
Where, why and how is tobacco/alcohol used in this media?
-
What is being said or implied about tobacco/alcohol?
-
Do you think that the media has a responsibility regarding
the messages it puts out about tobacco/alcohol, especially when it comes to

Heart disease and obesity are two of this countries
biggest health issues. Select one disease and create a graphic organizer for
the disease which includes statistics, prevention and a description of the
disease.
Option 7
Create an interview with a person with AIDS. The interview
should answer the who, what, where, when, how and why of their HIV infection. This
interview is a fictional piece, but should contain correct information about
HIV.
Option 8
Using the information provided below, create a
graph/chart; and then write a paragraph explaining why you think teens have
these attitudes toward violence.
Data:
Of teens surveyed:
64% believe that watching fights is fun
90% believe that sometimes people deserve to be hit
40% believe that it is okay to encourage others to fight
65% believe that fighting is cool
Option 9
Reflecting on your positive self-concept and your positive
traits of character, write an A-Z Autobiography. For each letter of the
alphabet, name a positive attribute you have and describe it in a complete
sentence.
