All assignments should be completed in class. However, if a student does not complete assignments in the time allotted in class, it is expected the student will complete the work independently; and late work will be accepted at a penalty of 5 points a day. Failure to turn in an assignment, regardless of the reason, will result in a zero for that assignment. Extra credit will be made available online, after the five week notices. Extra credit is extra work. It is intended for students to use to boost their average and it is optional. Extra credit will only be applied to assignments that were completed and turned in.
-Role Model Project (15%) -Completed Workbook (10%)
-Healthy Survey (10%) -Decision Making Assignment (10%)
-Attack of the HIV (10%) -Tobacco TATU Project (10%)
-Nutrition Project (15%) -Disease Project (10%)
-Participation Grade/Notebook/Packet Returned- (10%)
This grade is based on the teacher’s assessment that the student is participating to the best of his/her ability and comfort level, and the student’s maintenance of his/her notebook (including the parent signature on grade sheets). The notebook will be checked once in each five week block of the quarter. Penalties on this grade are due to unexcused (no pass) lateness, being unprepared, and interfering with the learning of others (poor classroom behavior). The penalty is 5 points per incident.
Students must return the packet that is signed out to them at the beginning of the quarter that they will use during class. Failure to return the packet, will result in a lowered participation grade.
Absences:
If you are absent from class, it is your responsibility to make up missed work. Students are to report to the teacher the day they come back to pick up missed work. It is very important to do this immediately upon returning to school. Most assignments are available online and or in the notebook, so work can be completed when you are absent from those resources.
