How many books may I check out?
You may check out up to three books at a time.
May I still check out a book if I have an overdue book on my account?
No, you may not check out any additional books until the overdue book is
returned to the library.
How many times may I renew a book? For how long is it renewed?
As long as another patron of the library does not need or want the book, you
may renew it as many times as you need to complete your reading. Should
there be a waiting list for the book, there will be no renewals honored.
Once you have renewed a book, you may keep it an additional two weeks.
How can I come to the library without my class?
Depending on your scheduling situation, you can come in a variety of ways.
Here is a sampling of what we can offer to students:
1) If you are currently scheduled in a study hall, your study hall teacher
will have a sign-up list provided to them each day. Available seats in the
library will depend on classes that have been scheduled, and the overall
school schedule. Bring everything you need with you to the library; we do
not allow students to return to lockers once in the library!
2) If you are not currently scheduled with a study hall, you have the option
of getting a "permanent" lunch pass. This pass enables you to visit the
library on odd or even days AFTER you have eaten your lunch. To get this
pass, ask at the circulation desk. Once you have eaten, simply show your
permanent lunch pass to the lunch monitor, visit your locker, and show up at
the library.
3) If you only need to visit the library to complete a project for one day,
you can come to the library during your homeroom period, and we can give you
a "one-time visit" lunch pass. Again, eat your lunch, show your pass to the
lunch monitor, visit your locker, and show up at the library.
Do you have any good magazines in the library?
We have a great variety of magazines in our library, including Car and
Driver, Consumer Reports, Entertainment Weekly, Game Informer, Seventeen,
People, and Teen Vogue, just to name a few!
Because everyone has the right to access our materials, and because we only
have one copy of each magazine available at a time, magazines are reserved
for in-library use only. You are welcome to come back to the library during
your study hall or lunch period to "catch up" on anything you may have
missed.
What if I have a recommendation for a book or a magazine that I really like?
Well, I am here to serve the students, faculty, and staff of Wappingers
Junior High School, so if there is something that you have read and enjoyed,
and think others might as well, I expect you to let me know about
it!
I will try my best to get items that students and teachers recommend to me,
but please remember that I have only a limited amount of money for certain
things, and, sometimes I am unable to order certain things, because
of questionable content. That very rarely occurs! :o)
