Wappingers Junior High School Mission Statement
To provide a safe, varied, and supportive learning environment by
establishing partnerships with school, home and community in order to
encourage all students to succeed, work to their highest potential, have good
attendance, respect, responsibility and a positive attitude.
In addition, in my class, I uphold the Wappingers Central Schools' philosphy:
"Our purpose is to prepare humane critical thinkers, decision
makers and problem solvers."
In my classes,the students "explore the facts" on several health
topics and issues. However, in preparing my students for the future,
it is equally important they learn to utilize good decision making
skills. Considering that 51% of the people who die in the U.S., die
as the result of their own behavior/choice, it is my hope that when
the time comes to make a critical lifestyle choice, my students
choose the healthier alternative, based on the decision making skills
and information they learned in my class.
