Marching Band Camp is a yearly event in which students learn the
fundamentals about marching band. During the two week camp, students will
learn the proper technique of marching while playing an instrument.
Students will also spend hours rehearsing music for the upcoming fall
season. The summer gives new students a chance to learn the basics as well
as all of the music. It also gives the returning students a chance to
brush up on marching techniques. If you are slightly nervous about joining
the group, the summer is the best time to learn. The pace is very relaxed
and we teach you everything from how to march to how to play the music. It
is a little more difficult and sometimes more stressful to learn for the
first time during the school year. It is very important for everyone who can
be there to attend for we are one ensemble.
Marching Band is open to all Wappingers Central School District students in
grades 8-12.
You will need to purchase a music lyre for your instrument. You don't need
one for the first couple of days of camp but you will eventually need to
have it. You can purchase one at Alto Music or online by clicking on the
links page above.
Welcome to one of the best parade marching bands in the area.
For information about dates and times, please see the Marching Band Events
page. All rehearsals are at Van Wyck.
