About The Teacher Label:
About The Teacher
I came to West Sayville Christian School in 1972, and because I love it here I have stayed and taught 2nd or 3rd or a combination of the two grades ever since. Before I came to the school, I went to The King's College for my undergraduate work. I received my Master's Degree from Dowling College. I grew up on a farm near the small town of Interlaken, NY, which is near Ithaca, NY. I am very thankful to have been raised in a Christian home, and to have had Biblical knowledge and values instilled into me from the beginning of my life. I am currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Patchogue. What I love to do in any spare time is travel! The whole world that God created is amazing- I would love to see every part of it! Reading and hiking are also favorite activities.
Mission Label:
Mission
My greatest desire is for each child to know that God is real, to face the truth that no matter how hard we try we will never measure up to God's standards, and to understand what Jesus did, out of His love, to save us. After that, learning that our actions are choices where we choose either our own way or to follow God's way as recorded in His word, is a process of growth that as a Christian school we are able to reinforce throughout every day. Academically, there are huge amounts of knowledge to gain and reinforce in each grade. I also believe 2nd and 3rd grades are crucial grades in which the students can grow progressively more independent. I work to give them the confidence, and the skills, to know that they CAN figure things out on their own, think through choices, and develop organizational habits. I want them to experience the joy of persisting through difficult work until it's completed well.
