Are you ready to embark on this journey?? Having read The
Freedom Writers Diary, are you ready to take a closer look at
how people change their lives and why other people don't?
1. First, you need to make sure that all members of your group
have finished The FWD and are familiar with several of
the stories from the book, including what happened and, more
importantly, how these teens changed their lives.
2. Next, you will want to read through the introduction and task
sections of the webquest.
3. Then, go into the section for your assigned group number and
begin your research, always keeping in mind that your focus is
the factors that contribute to or detract from one's ability to
change and how The FWD connects to your
research.
4. You will be the experts of the class regarding your topic, so
you need to be sure to print and/or write down important
information so that you can be very specific in your presentation
and be able to answer questions if necessary.
5. Now go to the Conclusion section of the webquest and
complete the reflective essay. This is a time for you to see how
the information you have taken from The FWD and your
research is relevant to your own life and how it can affect you in
the future. Take a step back and think about the person you are
right now and the person you can become in the future,
depending on the way you face change.
6. Enter the Evaluation section of the webquest to see how your
group will be assessed.
7. Prepare your presentation for Renaissance House. This is
an out-of-school audience, so errors or lack of preparation are
NOT ACCEPTABLE, and NEVER leave someone with a bad
impresssion of you simply because you were unprepared. No
gaps!! Know your stuff!! Be creative!!
