Mrs. Laux earned her B.A. in Biological Sciences from Indiana University in
1976. She then went on to the University of
Michigan to earn her M.S. in Biology in 1978. In 2002 she received her M.S.
in Education from Mercy College here at their Yorktown campus. She loves to
teach Biology to the students at Yorktown High School.
I believe the classroom should be a comfortable place where students are
valued and free from pressure. I believe all the individuals in the school
building should listen to and encourage each other, trust and respect each
other, and share ideas and solutions to problems with each other. I believe
we should appreciate our individual differences and celebrate our diversity.
I believe humor is an essential part of the learning process and I welcome
parents as partners in that process. I want to instill a love of learning in
my students: love of self, love for others, and love for our beautiful
planet. I hope that my students will continue to be lifelong learners.
My favorite quote is: “Make the most of yourself…for that is all there is of
you!”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
