Why do I have to write my answers in complete sentences?

Writing in complete sentences helps you think in complete thoughts and express
yourself in complete ideas. Writing in complete sentences can help improve
your thinking and speaking skills.

Do I have to write out the QUESTIONS in complete sentences?

No, questions do not need to be copied. If the answers are in complete
sentences I can figure out the original questions.

Mrs. Curley.

What happens when I'm absent? How can I get work that I missed?

If you are absent, see Mrs. Sheridan the first day you are back in class. She
will have notes and handouts that you have missed.

Mrs. Curley is working on uploading all her class notes to her website so that
all Key Question notes will be available online! (Then there will be no
excuses!) Homework is posted daily on the website.

We will clean out our social studies binders/folders at the end of each
quarter IN CLASS.

When is homework due?

Generally, if no due date is given, homework is due the day after it is
assigned. For longer assignments and quizzes/tests I will give a specific due
date for enough time to work and study.

Should I type my homework on a computer?

Whenever possible, type your work. Typing your work will help you edit or
correct your work easily if you need to go back and make changes. Also, typing
your work is neater and makes it easier for me to grade. You can spell check
and grammar check your work.

When typing, please remember to use 12 or 14 for your font size. Use the
basic, default font. Please NO cursive/script fonts! Also, try to remember to
double space between lines (you can set your word processing program to double
space automatically). Please print in black ink.

How is my work graded?

Tests and writing assignments receive a letter/percent grade. Homework grades
depend on how many questions are asked and answered correctly.

Homework grades are given as a fraction with the number correct over the
possible points. Daily quizzes are grades with points from 0-2 (2 being the
highest).

Final averages are calculated by averaging tests, written assignments,
projects, daily quiz average, and homework average.

Do I have to get tests signed?

Yes, any test or project or writing assignment with a letter/percent grade
must be signed.

Can I do extra credit to improve my grade?

Generally, I don't give extra credit work, however, you are encouraged to
correct homework assignments to improve your grade. For all corrections, half
credit will be given for all finished corrections.

Also, any tests grades 69 or lower will be re-tested or can be handed back in
with corrections. An average of the two grades will be the final grade for
that test if you take the test again.
