Hello everybody! I hope you are all excited for the 2009-2010 school
year. Just so you know, this is my 12th year of teaching, my 10th year in
the building, and my 8th year with team 7H, a really wonderful group of
teachers and my home away from home.
I particularly love collaboration because I travel to each subject every
day, so I am doing something new every period. Skills is a great way to
start my day because I get a chance to see my contact kids and we can get
ourselves prepared and psyched for the day ahead of us.
I have learned over the years how to simplify my life by staying
organized and planning ahead, a couple of skills I hope to pass along to all
of my students. Once you get the hang of it, it is easy to maintain and
makes school a whole lot less stressful and more fun. I know I learn better
when I am having a good time and not freaking out over the materials I
misplaced or the deadline that I missed because I forgot to look at my
planner. By the way, I do keep a planner for myself because I could NEVER
remember all of the things I have to do each day! That should make you all
feel better and help you get into the habit of using your assignment pads.
While homework will be updated regularly, there are days when I might be
absent or you won't have access to a computer, so the pad will be a reliable
tool.
School is actually fun for me (stop laughing!)which is probably why I
chose to be a teacher. I think I get more excited for the first day of
school than many of my kids! I like to learn new things and work with
people I don't know so that I can experience different thoughts, viewpoints,
and ways of learning and teaching.
So it's my hope that together we can make the school year a success by
brushing up on old skills, learning new ones, and most of all, learning more
about ourselves with each new experience.
Here's wishing all of us a beautiful year - Mrs. Hildinger
Work hard, have fun, and learn to value others, ourselves, and the world
around us.
