How can I support my child at home and at school?

Here are some suggestions on ways you can support your child at
home and at school:
1. Praise your child daily for specific accomplishments.
2. Set limits on TV watching and be selective about what your
child views.
3. Ask to see your child's homework.
4. Establish rules, routines, and chores at home.
5. Provide a quiet, well lighted place where your child can
study.
6. Read to your child and encourage him or her to read to you.
Be a reading role model by letting your child see you read.
7. Create a special area for library books and homework. Teach
your child to check this area as he or she leaves for school.

How much help should I be giving my child on his/her homework?

Homework is an extension of work done in school. Encourage your
child to do his/her homework on their own as much as possible.
He/she may need your help reading the directions or with the
spelling of a word. It would be greatly appreciated if you would
check you child's homework each day to be sure that it is done
correctly and returned promptly.
