Students in Academic Intervention Services are identified to receive extra
help in reading and/or math based upon formal and informal assessments. All
students are discussed with our Instructional Support Team. Our reading
teachers and certified teacher assistants provide this support individually
or in small groups, 90 minutes per week. AIS reading focuses on supporting
skills, strategies, fluency and comprehension. AIS math support focuses on
computation, problem solving and the understanding of math concepts. The
Kindergarten Early Literacy Program provides support to Kindergarten
students in the areas of phonemic awareness and early literacy skills.
Students in this program receive an additional hour of support two days per
week, either before or after school.
