My name is Mrs. Burns. I have been working as an educator for sixteen
years. I am a certified Reading Teacher for grades K-12. I have
recieved training in Orton-Gillingham, a multi Sensory approach to teaching
reading. I incorporate many creative, fun and challenging teaching
techniques into my daily classes. I am a devoted and compassionate teacher
driven to provide my students with the best possible educational experiences
that I am capable of offering them.
At my current position in LES, I meet with students at all grade levels
in an effort to diagnose and remediate reading difficulties. I work with
many students in small groups that meet daily for 30 minutes. I love what I
do!!
In addition, I am the wife of a wonderful and kind man and the mother
of two very wonderful children who attend school in the Liberty district.
My personal interests include: spending time with my family, enjoying
the outdoors, music, bird watching, horses, yoga and shopping. I have a
great love of animals as well. I live with and treasure 3 German Shepherd
dogs, a Shitzu-Yorkie mix, a Cockatoo, a cat and fish.
My Mission is to provide each student with a structured and goal
centered learning experience to meet their individual needs in
reading. I believe that all students are motivated and learn differently.
I enjoy the opportunity of getting to know my students and providing them
with a learning environment that is challenging, enriching and fun! I also
believe that all children should be treated with respect and dignity.
I believe that a child's education requires the commitment of
families , educators and the community.I respect the inherent, unique
qualities and potential of each child as an individual. As an educator , I
strive to help my students gain confidence in themselves through successful
academic experiences.
