Explorer Project
DUE Date:2/26/2010

Introduction:
 Explorers have always been adventurous people. Their motivations vary from the desire for wealth and fame to a quest for knowledge. Some expeditions are more successful and others more dangerous, but all are interesting!

TASK: You will be responsible for one explorer of your choice. Your focus is to gather and share information to justify this person's importance in history. ALL REPORTS MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING!!!
  • Biography and background information about the explorer; including a photo or illustration.
  • Expedition information including reason(s) for trips, difficulties encountered, results of the exploration.
  • Summary statements: What contributions, if any, did this explorer make to the future? Why should he/she be remembered?
  • Timeline of the explorers life.
  • Map of departures, destinations, and land explored or claimed
PROCESS
Follow these steps to complete the project.
  • Research: Bibliography and notefacts
  • Organize information in an outline
  • Write a draft. Make sure you include everything from above. Trade with a partner, revise, and edit!
  • Publish your final paper
  • Develop a timeline, map and drawings of important artifacts related to your explorer.
