How many minutes should my child be reading each night?

Each night the children are given 35-45 minutes of reading.
Reading daily is very important for your child's success in the
fifth grade. Students should read, both in school and at home, in
order for them to maintain and improve their reading skills and
level.
Encourage your child to have fun and to choose interesting books.
Another way to encourage and help your child develope a love for
reading is to read aloud to them. When reading aloud, choose a
book that will challenge them and discuss words and story
concepts together.
This is a great bonding experience.

Is there homework every night?

Yes! Homework is assigned every night. Assignments are there to
help your child review and practice what has been taught in
class. Homework is also a tool for assesment and helps teachers
individualize your child's education. Homework is a way for your
fifth grader to develope responsibility and prepare for middle
school. If there are any questions or concerns regarding
homework please feel free to contact me. If your child has
trouble with any assignments drop me a note so I can develope
ways to ensure their learning.
