What is Circle Free?

Once a month the 5th grade holds a Circle Free Party for those students who
have worked hard all month to keep current on assignments.

What happens if a student has a circle?

When a student does not hand in an assignment on time the teacher will
circle that assignment in the student's planner. Once the student completes
the assignment the teacher will either initial or stamp the circle to show
that the assignment has been completed. The student is then "Circle Free."
However if the student does not complete the assignment before the Circle
Free Party then the student may not participate in the party and must
instead go to the work room. The student does not get to join the party
once the assignment is completed.

When is work due before the Circle Free party?

All work must be handed in before dismissal time of the day before the
Circle Free party. This allows the teacher time to correct each
assignment. Work may NOT be handed in the morning of the Circle Free party!

What about those monthly chapter books?

Each student is asked to select an Accelerated Reader chapter book in their
reading level at the beginning of the month. They then have approximately 3
weeks before the Circle Free party to read the book and take the test. The
student must score a 70 or higher on the test. If not, they will have to
reread their chapter book and get a circle in their planner.
