I have been teaching at Hagan Elementary School since 1989, and can honestly
tell you that I love coming here each day! I work with so many wonderful
students, parents, and teachers - we are a team here at Hagan! I have a
Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, and I am certified to teach both
Elementary and Special Education. I have a Master's Degree in Educational
Psychology. I earned both degrees at Marist College. I was an adjunct
instructor at Marist College for several years. The courses I taught
were "Math Methods for Elementary Teachers" and "The Exceptional Child". I
very much enjoyed this experience. I also worked within NYSUT's "Effective
Teaching Program", teaching various graduate courses. However, I must say
that my favorite "professional" place to be is right here in my 4th grade
classroom!
I especially enjoy spending time with my family: my husband, daughter, my
son, and our 2 very friendly dogs!
It is my goal to foster a love of learning within each of my students. I
feel I will be successful if I can help my students to be independent, as
well as lifelong learners. I believe that all students have an intrinsic
curiosity which we as teachers must tap into, in order to help
them "discover" the learner within themselves, as well as their own
individual learning style. Once students begin to understand, and believe in
themselves, many doors will open.
