September News

It has been a successful beginning of the year! We are having a great time learning about the students.

We have started in our new anthologies. The students are enjoying Unit 1 stories about friendship, family, and community. Our reading series allows us to reach the needs of each child through the writing activities, leveled readers, and the critical thinking questions.

During Religion, we have started our unit on communities. We are exploring and learning about different communities and how we are welcomed into the Catholic Church through the sacraments. We enjoy going to church on Thursdays with the All Saints Community. Remember to practice all of the prayers, especially the Prayer of Sorrow.

In Math we have been working on many skills from Chapter 1. The students have worked hard on place value, expanded form, problem solving, counting patterns, odd and even numbers. Chapter 1 has been challenging, but rewarding for the students to watch their progress. Please spend some time each evening reviewing addition and subtraction facts for both accuracy and speed.

In Social Studies, we are learning about maps and globes, identifying the continents, oceans, and cardinal directions.

Just a reminder, when sending in morning snack, treats for birthdays and Angel of the Week please make sure they are nut-free!

We will continue to update our webpage throughout the year to keep you informed about what is going on in the classroom and ways you can help out at home. Spelling and homework will be posted daily on the webpage.

We are looking forward to working with you and your child this year.

Thank you for your support in your child’s education.

Have a great September!
