Hello parents and children!

	Welcome to second grade. My name is Mrs. Phelps, and I’m thrilled
to be able to work with each of you this year. It’s hard for me to believe
that this is my twenty-first year teaching either first or second grade in
the Warren District. My youngest son, Christopher, is in sixth grade at BV
and my oldest son, William, attends college in Texas. My stepchildren, Sean
and Carrie, are at Meigs High School. My husband keeps busy with his job as
a D.J. with V96.9 radio station. Our Dalmatian, Sparkie, completes our
family.
I’m looking forward to getting to know your family too. Parents, and other
family members are always welcome in our classroom, and I hope you’ll be
able to attend the many activities that we’ll have planned during the school
year. Each Friday I’ll send home an “Assignment Sheet” with reading and
spelling words as well as other important information for the week. Please
be sure to ask your child for that packet every Friday.
	Here is a list of supplies and items that your child will need for
second grade:
	* pencils & erasers
         * 2 spiral notebooks (approx. 70 page)
	* pointed scissors
         * washable markers
	* glue sticks
         * 1 folder with pockets
	* crayons
         * headphones for the computer (approx. $3.00)
	* 1 box tissues
         * zip lock bags (1 gallon & 1 quart size)
	* 4 book covers (no sticky covers please)
	* 1 bag of candy (such as tootsie rolls, suckers, etc.)
	* water bottle (with a lid that will close)

	As a reward in my classroom for earning an A, 100% on tests, the
students choose a treat from the treat drawer. Please be sure to let me
know if your child has any specific allergies that I should be aware of.
During the year, I’ll ask for the candy and other items to be replenished.
	I know we’ll have a fun and exciting school year. If you have any
questions, feel free to call me at 678-2395, ext. 120 or 373-0813. Thanks
for you support!

						Sincerely,
	                                              Mrs. Phelps
