Extra Credit

Listed below are opportunities to earn extra credit in my classroom. Please don't ask me
what you can do for extra credit if you have not completed your classwork to the best of
your ability. I highly suggest you take advantage of the opportunities below and do NOT
wait until the end of the quarter.

I DO NOT GIVE EXTRA CREDIT ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS JUST TO "SAVE YOUR GRADE."
** Extra Credit (with the exception of test corrections) is NOT included in
grade updates and/or interims.
  1. Test Corrections (7th/8th Grade Only)
  2. Science Dollars (7th/8th Grade Only)
  3. Study Guides (7th/8th Grade Only)
  4. Einstein Earnings (9th Grade Only)
  5. Blog Entries (All Grades)

the class notes section for instructions.

Science Dollars (7th/8th Grade Only)

Science Dollars (1 pt each) and Homework Coupons (5 pts each) can be turned in at the end of the nine weeks. Points are added up
and factored into the final grade. You may not use more than ten Science Dollars per quarter as extra credit.

Science Dollars are given to all students at the beginning of the year. They can be earned by participating in class, helping a
classmate, working diligently, and/or helping with lab clean-ups.

Homework coupons are distributed at the end of the nine weeks to any students who have successfully turned in ALL homework (no
zeros on an assignment).

Study Guides (7th/8th Grade Only)

Students have the option to complete each study guide prior to the test and turn it in for one extra credit point. Answers to study
guides must be written on a separate sheet of paper and answered in a complete sentence. It is NOT necessary to rewrite the
question. All study guides are collected the day of the test.

Einstein Earnings (9th Grade Only)

In the event that you bombed a test, you may use your Einstein Earning to increase your grade. Every student will receive ONE
Einstein Earning at the beginning of the year. They will be redistributed at the end of each nine weeks to any students who
have successfully turned in ALL homework (no zeros).

Test score may NOT exceed 100% (ex: if you have a 97% and use your Einstein Earning, your maximum score is 100%.) The extra
point may not be carried over.

Blog Entries (All Grades)

Blog entries may be assigned as homework or for extra credit. I realize computer access can be difficult for some students;
therefore, adequate time is given. Students can use the school library, Burton Library, or a friend's computer to meet this
criteria.

Entries must be quality answers and well-researched in order to receive credit. Responses to past blog entries are not eligible
for extra credit, but shows me you're capable of going that "extra mile."
