Our First Rehearsal will be...
Tuesday, September 15th, in the band room at Roberts Middle School.
Don't forget to fill-in the application form prior to the first rehearsal.
INTRODUCTORY PROCEDURES:
1-A. You will attend the first two rehearsals for the purpose of finding out
about the Pied Pipers Performing Club. We will do a variety of activities to
try to help you experience our type of performance.
1-B. After the first two rehearsals we will begin try-outs. I will post the
try out procedures on a "written Instruction" page on this site. We will also
discuss try-outs during the first two rehearsals.
REQUIREMENTS FOR BEING A PIED PIPER:
2-A. You must have access to an e-mail address. (I will be happy for you to
use one of your parent's e-mail addresses.)
2-B. You must have access to the Internet. Your preparation for rehearsals is
to be done via this web site. When you come to rehearsals you should already
be familiar with the lyrics, skits, and music. NOTE: Rehearsal time needs to
be used to rehearse. We will only be meeting once a week; therefore, it is
very important for you to come prepared.)
2-C. Be sure you go to the "Application" page in this website and submit your
application.
UNIFORM - a requirement this year:
3-A. You will need to purchase a uniform. (They run about $40.00)We will
order the uniforms as soon as try-outs are completed.)NOTE: Last year I did
not make this mandatory because it was the first year. This year purchasing a
uniform will be mandatory. Although you will be able to learn your part, you
will not be able to perform with us until you have a uniform. (If the uniform
company does not get your uniform to you in time, I will allow you to
perform.)
REFERENCES:
4-A. 6th graders: I will contact your elementary music teacher for a
character reference. What will I ask? If she has seen in you a consistent,
positive attitude. I also need to know that you are self-motivated to "get
the job done" (specifically learning the materials outside of rehearsals.)
4-B. 7th & 8th graders: You will have teachers sign a form that I will
prepare concerning your consistent, positive attitude and motivation to get
the job done. Please use teachers you had last year since your new teachers
will not have time to know you. (I'll give you the form once you make the
decision to participate in Pied Pipers.)
COMMITMENT/OBLIGATION TO THE PIED PIPER ORGANIZATION:
5-A. If you decide, after passing try-outs, that you no longer want to
participate in the Pied Pipers I will need a written note from your parents
verifying you will no longer be attending rehearsals.
5-B. Also, you will not be allowed to rejoin Pied Pipers until the next
school year. NOTE: Last year I allowed students to return after quitting;
thus, I felt I needed to clarify this information.
WHAT ABOUT STUDENTS WHO PARTICIPATE IN AFTER SCHOOL SPORTS? This could
present a problem but last year we were able to "work through it." If you
have the desire to be a Pied Piper and you are participating in a school
sport please see me as soon as possible. I will try and work out special
arrangements for you, if it is at all possible. (Some of the most dedicated
Pied Pipers were members on sports teams last year.)
FIRST REHEARSAL ASSIGNMENT:
6-A. Please come to the first rehearsal ready to sing the Pied
Piper's Song and the Make New Friends song. This means you need to be
familiar with the lyrics and the music before coming to the first rehearsal.
The words and lyrics are already uploaded for your convenience. Click on the
Pied Pipers Music Page. You will need to use a "viewer code." NOTE: Mrs.
Rezach will give you the viewer code when she calls for a meeting at school.
6-B. You do not need to print the repertoire materials. I will hand out hard
copies at the first rehearsal.
BOLICH STUDENTS: Be sure you fill-in the bus permission form that is on this
web site. I must have this permission slip before you will be allowed to be
transported from Bolich to Roberts on Tuesdays. Your parents will need to pick
you up after the rehearsals.
