Welcome to the third grade! I am very excited about the
upcoming school year. This is my fifth year teaching third grade and my
ninth year at Cardinal Pacelli. I received my undergraduate degree from
Xavier University in Elementary Education in 1999. I also received my
masters degree in Multicultural Literature from Xavier in 2004. For
families who are returning to my classroom this year, I am delighted to
have you again. For those who are new to my homeroom, I am very
excited to get to know you better. The students will be in our homeroom
for Language Arts, Handwriting, and Math. For Science or
Social Studies, and Religion, the students will travel to Mrs. Long’s room.
Classroom Rules
1) Respect others
2) Be polite and helpful
3) Use kind words
4) Follow directions
5) Keep our room clean
Consequences
(K - 4 Behavior Plan)
Green card - The students behavior is appropriate.
Yellow card - If a child breaks a rule, they are given a warning. There is
no consequence for a Yellow card. If the behavior continues, or another
infraction occurs, the student will be given a Red card.
Red card- The student has been warned and an appropriate
consequence will be given. For example a loss of recess, home/school
communication, loss of “free time” in the classroom. A blatant
infraction could warrant an automatic Red card. Infractions can take
place on any part of the school grounds, i.e. church, playground,
specials. Any teacher may give any child a warning or a red card.
I know the children will work hard to follow these rules. At
school, I will encourage them in their efforts at self-control. If I need
your help at home, I will be in touch with you by phone or note. I am
confident we will have an exciting and educational year. Please don’t
hesitate to contact me at school or you can email me at
