Welcome to the school year and thanks for visiting the class website.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year filled with lots of fun and
learning.
I am in my fourteenth year of teaching and continue to learn more and
more each year from my students. I have spent my years of teaching in the
primary grades. I taught kindergarten for three years, first grade for four
years, and I am now in my sixth year of teaching second grade.
My mission as a teacher is to instill positive communication and social
skills into the lives of my students. I want children to be able to get
along with others in a constructive and healthy way and have the necessary
tools enabling them to deal with conflicts and issues they might face
throughout their lives. I want my students to value and respect individual
differences. I will model and demonstrate to my students, respect and
empathy. I will actively work with students to develop a positive self-
image that will reflect compassion, caring, and acceptance of diversity.
From the first day of school, I will set my expectation for a positive,
caring classroom community. We will make a promise to each other that we
will work together and encourage one another along the way. Our classroom
will celebrate diversity, differences, and all levels of learning.
Building this community will set the tone for the entire school year. Once
our positive, caring classroom community has been established, children will
be capable of reaching their full potential and accomplishing their academic
goals.
