| 8th Grade Calendar
Date: Week of March 17, 2008
Pre-Algebra:
Unit Test: Functions on Wednesday the 19th
Algebra:
Unit Test: Graphing linear and quadratic Tuesday 18th.
History: DO NOT THROW OUT OR LOSE ITEMS THAT ARE GIVEN TO YOU IN CLASS!
*Monday- Finish HW 6-3; HW 6-4 passed out and completed in class
*Tuesday and Wednesday (I will not be in school- formative assessment
workshop) HW #6-5- Students will be studying the Declaration of Independence
*Thursday- Finish unit 6
*Friday- Review for summative evaluation on Wednesday, 23 January 2008
Language Arts:
* Last week we continued to write our short stories. Students received
rubrics telling exactly what will be assessed in their short stories. Final
drafts will be due at the beginning of class on Wednesday, May 21st.
* Monday and Tuesday, students will be peer reviewing their short stories.
They will need to edit and revise before turning in their final copy on
Wednesday.
* Writers Notebooks are due this Monday, May 19th. Students should have
entries #58-70 completed.
* We will begin Literature Circles on Thursday. Students will choose which
book they would like to read, and they will be discussing that book
throughout the next couple of weeks with a group. They will have nightly
reading assignments and bookmarks to complete. After daily discussions,
students will get a chance to start their assignments in class.

Ms. Allison's Math:
7th Grade Will...
begin looking at mass using a triple beam balance
Work with a ruler / meter stick (measuring length in metric units)
Number Sense Review
Students will continue to review place value of whole numbers and decimals
Students should be able to read and write large whole numbers and decimals
Continue to work with money
8th Grade will..
We will reinforce concepts from science about the metric system
(measuring)
Begin looking at converting metric units
we will measure mass on a triple beam balance
Science:
For Week of May 12 - May 16:
HW-8 assigned on Monday (reading and questions), and due on Thursday, 5/15.
Quiz #1 - open notebook on Wed., 5/14: Radioactivity, Radioactive Decay,
Nucleus of Atom,
Atomic Models.
Begin Periodic Table on Thursday, 5/15.
Unit Test: 5/22 covers all that was on Quiz #1 and Periodic Table.
