Miss McCann’s Class News
November 30, 2007
Happy Friday! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. It’s so hard to believe that December 1st is tomorrow. We have three full weeks of
school left before break and lots to do in that amount of time. This is always such a busy time of year. Your child should have his or her line for
our holiday program in their take home folder today. The kids need to practice and memorize these at home. As you know, the play is on
Tuesday December 18th at 7:00. The performance will be in the school gym. The kids should wear “dress up or party clothes” on the evening
of the performance. They will report to their own classroom at 6:45. I will send more reminders as the the program gets closer! Please let me
know if you have any questions.
This week we started our holidays around the world unit. We will be learning about different winter holidays that are celebrated on each
continent. This week we spent some time learning about Chinese New Year. Encourage you child to tell you some things that he or she learned.
Today we started learning about Hanukkah, this will continue into next week. At the end of our unit we are hoping to have a celebrating in the
classroom where the kids can try some of the foods that are eaten during these holiday celebrations. In the next week or so I will be sending
home a sign up sheet asking for volunteers to make a recipe from one of these celebrations.
Scholastic books orders were due today. If you still want to order online, the orders will be accepted through Saturday (tomorrow).
That’s about it for this week. Thanks for all you do for your children. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Have a
great weekend!
