<h4 align="left">Welcome to the Second Grade Website! Time to work on the 4th quarter AR goal.  Please be sure your child is doing independent reading.  Each student is required to read a minimum of 3 books this quarter.  Books must be read and the quizzes taken by Friday May 11th. Watch the Friday folder for a letter about our Second Grade Special  Person's Day on May 10th and our upcoming field trip on May 16th. In Our Classroom: Reading: We are now into Unit 4 and will continue to work with  cause and effect, context clues, main idea and details and summarizing.  We will also continue our phonic work with vowel pairs, diagraphs, and blends. Math:  We are working on our money and time skills in chapter 7.  We will be adding and subtracting money and making change.  We will be working with all coins, as well as, dollars.  We will be improving our skills telling time, especially reading an analog clock  We will tell time to 5 minute intervals, to the half and quarter hour and work with elasped time.   We are making great progress in our Math Simple Solutions Book.  We are working with addition and subtraction of 3 digit numbers with and without regrouping and being introduced to multiplication and division concepts.  Science:  We will begin our unit on insects when we return from spring break.  We will be learning the characteristics of insects as well as learning about their habitats and adaptations to their environments. We will complete our unit with each student completing a slide for a class power point presentation.   Religion:  We are studying the parts of the Mass as we prepare for First Communion.  Congratulations to our students who are making their First Communion.
