Class News
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the parents who have 
helped lately with classroom activities.  Thanks to Mrs. Dennis, Mrs. 
Congleton, and Mrs. Fox. who went on the field trip to the dairy farm.  
Thanks to all of the parents who sent in pumpkins treats, drinks, and paper 
products.  Thanks to Mrs. Congleton, Mrs. Kirkpatrick, Mrs. Phelps, Mrs. 
Rockhold, Mrs. Sydenstricker, Mrs. Burkhardt, and Mrs. Wigal for helping to 
carve pumpkins, serve the food, and clean up.  
Please wear red, white, and blue on Tuesday for the Veterans’ Day 
Program!!!!!!!!!!!
Language Arts
Students are still working on their fairy tale news stories.  In spelling 
they will be learning words with Final Syllables –en,-an,-el,-le,-il.  In 
grammar, we are learning about main verbs and helping verbs.
Reading–Mrs. Arnold
	Students will be reading “Jane Goodall’s Ten Ways to Save Wildlife” 
which is a story on some endangered animal species and what students can do 
to help.  The skills lesson for this selection is learning about fact and 
opinion.  Students will also be reviewing previously learned skills.  The 
extra vocabulary test over the words with the prefix “post-“ will be on 
Tuesday.
Social Studies – Mrs. Arnold 
	Students read Chapter 3 this week and completed activities in class 
to help them learn and organize basic information about explorers.  Next week 
we will begin reading a book called Around the World in 100 Years which 
provides the students with more detailed information about these men and 
their areas of exploration.  They will have a daily activity to complete for 
each chapter we read.   On Thursday, students will have a quiz over all of 
the states in the northeastern region.  They have a map to practice this.
Science Mrs. Hamrick 
 	The students are learning how all ecosystems change naturally with 
time and how human activities also
cause changes in ecosystems.   The test will be Friday over chapter 4, pages 
B90 – B108, but the students will have all the necessary notes in their 
science notebooks, too.
Math – Mrs. Hamrick
Students will review skills from chapter 5 – 8.  A vocabulary quiz over 
chapters 5 – 8 will be Tuesday.
 There will be multiplication practice with decimals numbers.
