Dear Students (and Parents),
Welcome to Fifth Grade! I am very excited to be your teacher this year. I am looking forward to getting to know you as we work together in class each day.
We are going to share in a great educational experience this year. Becoming better learners with improved organizational and study skills will be an underlying theme in our class. Since learning from one's peers is a very powerful tool from which students can learn, we will work cooperatively (with partners or teams) whenever possible. The cooperative skills you will develop will help you not only in this class, but also at home and in the work place.
I really enjoy teaching and working with students and I am proud to be your teacher. I want you to feel free to ask questions when something is unclear. There are no "dumb" questions in this class. Please remember that I cannot read your mind. You must take the initiative to ask for the help that you need (I only bite on weekends, so you can safely ask for help Monday through Friday

). When you are working with your classmates, keep in mind that they also can be a source of help if you let them know what kind of assistance you need.
Each day I need for you to bring some very valuable tools: all class materials, completed assignments, and a Christ-centered positive attitude. With these tools, you will be on your way to making your fifth grade experience a success! Let's have a great year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Schnittger
