Your ultimate task is to develop a cost-effective proposal for the
colonization of the Moon. Your findings and conceptual ideas for lunar
colonization will culminate in a 15-minute presentation to "Congress"
(classmates and the teacher)at the end of the semester.
Congress has granted each group 10-15 minutes for presentation. Each
presentation must include the following.
- powerpoint presentation (minimum 15 slides) including geological
information, environmental information, and plans for terraforming
- conceptual design of the habitat
(drawings, models, or pictures of your design)
- estimated total cost of the project
(transportation, construction, supporting life on the Moon for 1 year)
Be creative. Remember, you are trying to sell your idea to Congress so that
the program will not be cut from the budget.
There are a few important underlying questions you need to ask yourselves
throughout the process. "What materials and conditions do humans need to
survive?" and "Are they readily available?" If they are not available, "How
can we make them available?"
