Each day, students fill out their assignment planners as a part of our
classroom routine. It helps them visualize the structure of the day's work
and assignments ahead of them each day and helps them to stay focused and
organized. Students are to check off work as it is completed and are to
write down any homework assignments for that night. They also write
reminders about long term due dates.
We go over this every day and at the end of their last period with me
each day. They all are in their homerooms before dismissal and the teacher
goes over the assignments that are written on her planner or chalkboard as
well. It is important that students tune in and take responsiblity for
writing them down.
I check the planners every day. Students are reinforced by tokens for
sharing their day's work with their parents and completing homework. They
also receive tokens for having their parents sign their planners each night.
There is a space at the bottom of every page for Teacher messages and Parent
messages. This is a great way to communicate between home and school.
