Welcome to my web pages for the 2008-2009 school year. I'm glad that
you have visited! I hope that this will be a useful and informative site for
both parents and students and will enhance the partnership between home and
school.
This is my 32nd year of teaching. I still love what goes on in the
classroom and am excited about education. I graduated from Kent State
University with a dual major in Elementary Education and Special Education
(Learning Disabilities and Severe Behavior Disorders). I returned to KSU to
earn my Masters degree in School Guidance and Counseling. I have been
involved in the Mentoring Program for Entry Level Teachers since 1989 and
have received the Pathwise Training. In 1995, I participated in training at
the County TCCN to become a Technology Mentor in our building. Each year
since then, I return to the county computer lab at least two days per year
for updated training. Through the Ohio SchoolNet technology program, I
received my Novice and Practitioner Trainer certificates. I then became an
adjunct instructor for Ashland University. This enabled me to offer
professional development courses for graduate credit in technology for
teachers. I am excited about the potential that technology in the classroom
has for enhancing the learning of students, especially those students with
special needs.
Please feel free to email me if you have any questions or concerns. I
also welcome any suggestions for this web site. I am available during
my conference and planning period each day from 9:05 - 9:45.
My goal is to meet the individual educational needs of my students as
determined by their Individual Educational Plans (IEPs). I strive to
provide a physically and emotionally safe, structured environment in which
students can maximize learning. By choosing teaching methods appropriate to
their individual learning styles, I hope that students will increase their
skill levels and self-esteem by building on successes. My goal also includes
teaching students to be responsible, active learners by helping them gain an
awareness of their strengths and needs and by teaching them the skills that
successful students utilize.
