Summer Camp FairThink summer!
Did your kids spend too much time in front of the TV or video game console last summer? The Nordonia Middle School PTSA can help change that this year. On Saturday, February 7th, 2009 from 10 am through 1:30 pm, the Middle School will host the second annual Summer Camp Fair. The community is invited to attend this free event on Leonard Avenue, Northfield. When you think “summer camp” what do you imagine? For some people, camp is spending a week in a cabin and enjoying the great outdoors. But camp can also be trying out a potential career, experiencing college, honing your athletic abilities, or expanding your mind. Working families look for day camp options and many teens seek out opportunities to work as volunteers. There are camps for specific academic disciplines, camps that let you explore nature, and camps for kids with special needs. With so many options, how do you choose? A good start is a trip to the Summer Camp Fair. There’s a camp that’s right for each camper and every budget. Visit the fair to take advantage of the opportunity to talk to representatives from camps near and far. Representatives from all types camps have been invited to submit information about their programs or to attend in person. Programs for all ages will be represented - camps for children as young as six years old, for teens as old as eighteen, and even for families. Additionally, area dance instructors, fitness instructors and art studios are invited to reserve a table to present their summer offerings. If your business is interested in participating, please contact Melanie Smith at 330-468-8739 as soon as possible. Space is limited and tables are reserved on a first come, first served basis. Other activities planned include a teen Guitar Hero tournament, a scavenger hunt for the younger set, and a great prize basket raffle, with PTA’s from each of the Nordonia School buildings sponsoring raffle baskets with “Summer Fun” themes. We’ll be raffling off at least three gift certificates for a free week of camp. And we’ll have refreshments available at the concession stand. The whole community is invited. Hope to see you there!
