Thank you, Mr. Brian Weisker for your great electricity presentation in September.  We were completely ENLIGHTENED  about energy production at the power plant.  Your ELECTRIFYING props and discussion gave us an inside look into the world of electricity.

A group of ambitious 2009 6th graders  agreed to become botany sleuths over the summer.  They  received mystery seeds to grow and nurture.  Some have even been able to enjoy the "fruits" of their labors.  Kaylee Zeller, Kayla Weisker, Julia Brown, and Emma Maliborski completed the project and have all been awarded prizes for their outstanding effort.  We were very fortunate to share Kaylee's zucchini in the form of delicious chocolate-zucchini muffins. Mmmmm...  Read their comments on the summer blog link.

Our Lady of Lourdes was chosen to receive a field trip grant from Target last year. The cost of the  sixth grade zoo field trip on April 17, 2009 was completely covered by the grant money. The students learned about endangered species and Earth's biodiversity while enjoying the day at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens. They completed a photo inquiry in the afternoon. It was also Zoo Math Days and the students measured bats for their zoo activity.
