About The Teacher

I have been a teacher at OLL for 20 years. Sister Madonna Ratterman hired
me a month after I graduated from The College of Mount St. Joseph with an
Elementary Education degree in May, 1989. Although I started out teaching
only fifth grade, I have taught science in both fifth and sixth grades for
the past eight years. I love teaching science, especially in the middle
grades. I also teach one fifth grade English class and one fifth grade
Religion class this year.

I achieved two professional goals in 2003. After four long summers of
classes at Miami University, I completed my Masters in Teaching Biology. I
am excited to have the opportunity to share this experience with the kids I
teach. My second achievement was National Board Teacher Certification in
Early Adolescent Science.

Who am I outside of school? I have been married to Ray Brackmann for 33
years. We live in Harrison, Ohio, where we have raised our four daughters.
I have one grandchild, Teddy, who lives in Washington DC with his parents.

Mission For The Class

Tell me, and I'll forget.
Show me, and I may not remember.
Involve me, and I'll understand.
