 Soc. Stud. Chapter 3 Vocab
1. history (pg.70) - The story of the past.
2. Anasazi (pg.79) - mostly farmers, grew corn, beans and squash. Also raised 
turkeys which needed little water.  Used plants to make their shoes and 
clothes.  Made pottery from the dried clay.
3. desert (pg.78) - a very dry environment where little rain falls.
4. canyon  (pg. 80) - deep river valley with steep sides.
5.  cliff (pg.80) - steep face of a rock.
6.  mesa (pg. 80) landform that looks like a high, flat table.
7.  technology (pg.81) the use of tools and materials to serve people's 
needs. (pointed sticks, stone axes)
8. Cliff house  (pg.82) house with many rooms, built into the side of a mesa.
9. kiva - (pg. 84) special room used for religious purposes.
10. artifacts - (pg. 87) objects left behind by a group of people. (pottery, 
tools, pieces of clothing, and even buildings)
11. museum (pg. 89) place where people can look at objects of art, science, 
or history
