Spring Sports Info, with contact info

Below is the information that will be posted to Schoology and emailed to all
parent email addresses on 2/17/2017.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Orange Boosters for all of the
support that they have shown Brady Athletics over the years, including
purchasing new baseball uniforms this year! Boosters support all athletic
programs at Orange, not just at the high school. They put a lot of their
resources into Brady teams. Please join this worthwhile organization. Any
level of participation would be great. For membership info visit the Boosters
website at https://www.orangeboosters.org/

Please note that my website has all of the information about middle school
athletics that you could want or need. Go there for schedules, field
locations, and directions to away contests. There is also a page to sign-up
for last minute changes and cancellations to be emailed to you. Changes are
common in the spring because of the weather. I encourage you to sign up. My
website address is -http://teacherweb.com/OH/OrangeSchools/MrApple

Informational meetings or sign-ups for track, softball and baseball will be
held in mid to late February. Students should listen to announcements to hear
about meeting times and places. Complete baseball and softball tryout
information will be given out at these meetings. Track does not involve
tryouts, all athletes make the team.

The Orange City School District is proud to offer the following athletic
programs during the spring athletic season-

Please note that any questions about the sports should be first directed to
the appropriate coach listed above.

A note about behavior- Being a member of an athletic team brings
responsibility. Each athlete of a team will be asked to represent themselves
and their school positively at all times. Behavior problems at school and at
athletic contests and practice could result in exclusion from athletic teams
and events.

A note about forms- In order for an athlete to tryout for and compete for a
team, a valid physical must be on file with the athletic department. Athletic
physicals are good for one calendar year from the date of the physical. All
other required forms must be completed online. Go to my website (address
above) and look for the Athletic Participation Forms link. If a student has
competed at Orange this year, and online forms are already done, just log in
and make sure the forms are up to date and the correct spring sport is chosen.
Video tutorials will soon be posted to help with the form process.

A note about playing for non-school teams- If a student is on a team at Brady,
that athlete may not participate on any other team of the same sport, during
the same season, community or otherwise supported, until the Brady season is
completely finished. This includes practicing with any other team.

A note about transportation home from away athletic contests- In order for an
athlete to go home from an away game with his or her parent, that athlete
needs to turn in a note from the parent BEFORE the athlete boards the bus to
leave Brady for the away game. Each game requires a new note, so that the
coach does not have to guess whether an athlete will be going home with a
parent or on the bus. The athlete can only ride home from an event with his
or her parent or guardian. At the away event, the athlete should go to the
coach and tell the coach when he or she is leaving. Thus the coach has the
ability to make contact with the parent.

Looking forward to a great spring season!
