We are currently planning on having the PHS Alumni Band march with us at pre-
game of the PHS vs Gallia Academy game on October 2, 2009. It has been a LONG
time since we have fielded an alumni band, and we are looking forward to
seeing this happen this year.
One former director, Billy Watson is slated to come back and direct one of
the tunes, and we have contacted other former directors as well, so this
should be a night to remember!
If you are interested in participating with the Alumni Band please contact

J, lower case L, and the number 1... the text turned out a little goofy so I
thought I would clarify.) I know there is a nominal fee that covers a t-shirt
and postage for music, etc.
We are touting this as our Past, Present and Future night, where we will have
the Alumni, Current Band and Junior High Students all playing the same
night... we hope this becomes an annual tradition that we can keep going for
years to come!

Here’s the update we’ve all been looking for Alumni Night 2009!
PHS BAND ALUMNI NIGHT
October 2, 2009
Welcome and Registration: 4:15-5:00 PM
Registration area will be at the back of Portsmouth High School at the band
room entrance.
Practice with the Band: 5:00 PM
We will meet in the band room to go over music, then rehearse the pre-game
show on the practice field.
March to the “Trojan Coliseum” with the Band at approx. 6:45 PM
Please note you do not have to play your instrument to march or participate
with the band. We would like as many as possible to be present, there is a
place for everyone!!!
Music: All band alumni will participate in pregame. Music will be provided
that evening and prior to the game by email or regular mail. Pre game music
includes: PHS Fight Song, Alma Mater and National Anthem. All former band
directors are being invited to direct during pre-game. After pre-game, we
will go to our designated seating behind the band block.
If you need an instrument please notify us by September 19th so we can make
arrangements. We will try our best to accommodate as many as possible.
Dress: Alumni T-Shirt, Long Pants (jeans are fine) We have arranged to have
shirts made for a nominal fee. $6 sizes S-XL and $6.50 for sizes 2X-5X.
Please let us know by September 19th what size you will need and if you will
be attending. Pre-payment is encouraged as soon as possible.
Fees: $15 dollars includes membership into the Alumni Assoc., T-shirt and
ticket for the game. $5 membership for the Alumni Assoc. only.
