About The Teacher

Mr. Brehm (pronounced like brain with an M,) or Mr. B as he is known to his 
students is in his seventh year as Director of Bands here at Portsmouth City 
Schools.

He is a native of Raymond, Ohio (about 5 miles west of Marysville, OH) and a 
1990 Graduate of Marysville High School.

His higher education pursuits include a Bachelor of Music Education from The 
Ohio State University (1995,) and a Master of Arts in Music Degree from 
Washington State University in May 2003.

Prior to coming to Portsmouth Mr. B has served as Director of Bands at 
Lincolnview Local Schools in Van Wert County, Director of Bands at Paint 
Valley Local Schools in Ross County, and served as a Graduate Teaching 
Associate and Assistant Athletic Band Director at Washington State 
University.

During his tenure as Director of The Portsmouth Band Program, the band has 
travelled to compete in Toronto, Ontario in 2005 (where all bands recieved 
Superiors and First Place Awards in their divisions,) Chicago in 2007 
(where the Jazz, Marching and Parade Bands all recieved Superior Ratings and 
First Place in their Divisions, with The Jazz Band taking home Grand 
Champion and Grand Sweepstakes Champion Awards overall) and Kings Island in 
2008 (where the Concert and Parade Bands both took home First Places and 
Superiors as well.) and 2009 (where the Concert, Jazz and Parade Review also 
took First Place in their classes.) Plans are currently in the works for the 
2010 spring trip, check back for details and results later this year.

Also, if you look at the picture of the Quad Script Ohios above, The guy 
dotting the "i" in the nearest end-zone, is none other than... Mr. B!
