Where do I start?
I am a 1989 graduate of Ross High School. I am so excited to be teaching at
my alma mater! I participated in many activities while at Ross High (National
Honor Society, Junior Class Treasurer, Marching Band, and Athletics).
My track and field jersey was retired on May 31, 1989. I continued my
athletic career at Miami University in Oxford on a Grant in Aid for Track and
Field. I received All-MAC honors in 1992, placing 4th in the Shot Put. My
career ended after an ACL tear to my right knee. Today, I am still currently
in the top 25 all time throws in the shot put with a career best of 45' 2".
I did my student teaching from a wheelchair because of the ACL tear! My first
placement was at Elda Elementary with Mr.Fred Hibbs. Then I had surgery and
did the second half of my student teaching at Harrison High School with Mrs.
Kathy Swink.
After college, I was married to Steve on December 18th,1993. He is a teacher
at St.James Elementary School near North Bend. We have 4 children, Ryan
(grade 7), Brady(grade 6), Emma (grade 3), and Gracelyn (grade 1). We
live on 4 acres of land in rural Okeana, Ohio. We enjoy spending time
together as a family.
I have taught at several parochial schools, having left St.James Elementary to
come to Ross. I have taught and coached at all levels from P-K to high
school, and am currently the Varsity Volleyball coach and the Head Varsity and
JV Track & Field Coach (Boys & Girls).
My mission is to make Physical Education a non-threatening experience for my
high schoolers. Our curriculum involves sport themed units with an emphasis
on lifetime activities. I want my students to give their best, and enjoy the
units. They are also given ample opportunity to work at their pace, not one
dictated by me.
