| Children’s Book Week November 12 -15, 2007
School Wide Activities
Monday – Author Mary Kay Carson did two presentations in the gym. The
children really enjoyed her presentation on Emi and the Rhino scientist. Mrs.
Carson sent a very complimentary letter thanking us for inviting her to speak.
Kindergarten through second grade competed in a coloring contest. The winners
were - Kindergarten - Trent Walker, First Grade -Jacqueline Monnig and Second
Grade - Grace Hauck.
Third Grade through sixth grade made bookmarks. The winners were- Third
Grade - Ally Woeste, Fourth Grade- Giselle Coleman, Fifth Grade- Leah
Schmitz, and Sixth Grade - Cory Waldon.
Seventh and eighth grade redesigned book jackets. The winners were - Seventh
Grade - Grace Jacobsen and Eighth Grade - Nikki Volpenheim.
STAFF Reading Marathon- On Wednesday the staff read from 9:15 to 3:00. They
read 322 pages. Nicole Kuchenbuch guessed 320 pages and was the winner of
that contest.
Reading to Residents -On Monday afternoon – a group of third, fourth and fifth
graders went to Sunrise Assisted Living to read to some of the residents.
Claire Alverson,Emily Engel, Eli Flerlage, Connor Maciag, Mitchell Mack,
Lindsey Ollier, Alex Powell, Alex Reynolds, Caitlin Rieman, Holly Ryczek,
Michelle Spille, Blaise Stephens, and Drew Suffoletta. Mrs. Engel, Mr.
Maciag, and Mrs. Ryczek also accompanied the children. The children really
enjoyed reading and the residents loved listening to our students read.
Nobody wanted the time to end.
On Thursday, first and second graders had Pillow Partner Reading in the
library and then enjoyed animal crackers to end the Children's Book Week
Celebration.
