Team Selection Policy1. Per CYO policy, if more than one team is being formed in a particular sport/grade, those teams will be divided equally according to talent. The only exception to this policy is in the seventh and eighth grades. In these grades, an 'A' Team will be formed and placed into a competitive bracket with other schools of simular caliber.
2. Independent evaluators will be utilized whereever possible to ensure proper team placement. For selection purposed, players must attend at least one tryout session to be considered for the 'A' Team.
3. The current St. Albert policy is if more than one team exist after that, those teams will be divided equally. CYO does not have a formal policy on how to divide teams after the 'A' division. They recommend that the teams be divided equally but that this is only a recommendation and not a requirement.
4. CYO is willing to work with each parish to ensure that all their teams are placed in a competitive division whenever possible. Pre-season meetings are held annually with the seventh and eighth grade coaches to finalize team placement.
