Our 26 member Band, under the direction of Mr. Mark Wozniak, meets on
Monday's from 3:30 - 4:30 in the school music room. Band rehearsals start
around Labor Day.
At the beginning of each school year, Mr. Wozniak will hold an "Instrumental
Introduction". This will provide interested students an opportunity to try
several different band instruments and ask questions about the band program.
Local music stores can also assist you with choosing and trying out an
instrument anytime throughout the year.
In-school band instrument lessons are offered to 5th – 8th grade members
first and will start after Labor Day. Any 4th - 8th beginner that would like
to take lessons in school will be given that opportunity providing their
intentions are to become a member when proficiency on their instrument is
reached. Beginner lessons start mid-October. Lessons are taught on the
following band instruments: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Saxophone,
Trumpet/Cornet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, and Tuba. At this time,
we are not teaching lessons on piano, guitar or drums.
St. Albert the Great school provides the space for lessons. All lessons
taught during school hours are arranged through the individual professional
teachers and lesson payments are paid directly to the individual teacher.
These teachers are not part of the school staff. Therefore, correspondence
regarding lessons is to be forwarded directly to the teacher giving lessons.
Any other questions may be directed to Music Patrons through the school
office.
At this time, the St. Albert the Great Band is looking for instrumentalists
that play Tuba, French Horn, Trombone, Flute, Tenor Saxophone, Piccolo,
Bassoon, or Oboe.
