St. Albert the Great is proud and privledged to have highly qualified directors and teachers that provide our students with their professional services. General Music and Choir Our students' weekly music teacher is Mrs. Judi Horvath. We are pleased to announce that she is also our school's Choir Director. Mrs. Horvath received her Bachelor's Degree in Music from Baldwin-Wallace College in three years and has been teaching all general music classes and directing the Choir at St. Albert the Great since 2001. Mrs. Horvath is of Hungarian descent and is very involved in the Hungarian community. She is co-director of Csardas Dance Company Youth Ensemble, where she teaches authentic hungarian dance as well as singing. She speaks hungarian fluently and has visited Hungary many times. She is actively involved in hungarian scouting where she helps create the yearly Christmas musical program, teaches recorder and offers leader training and guidance in summer camps. As a St. Albert the Great school graduate, Mrs. Horvath has continued her faith as a long time parishioner of the parish. She is the proud mother of two St. Albert graduates that are now attending Padua High School and John Carroll University. Both children are active in music. Her son Michael plays the organ at church and was organist for many years here at St. Albert and her daughter plays the flute and is a member of the prestigious Cleveland Institute of Music's Wind Symphony. Mrs. Horvath can be reached through the school website at www.saint-albert.org in Progressbook. ======================================================================== Orchestra Our Orchestra Director, Mrs. Carole Banyas graduated from Capital University Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor of Music Degree and has taught in Catholic elementary schools for over 20 years. In addition to being our orchestra director, Mrs. Banyas also teaches the string programs at 2 other area Catholic Elementary schools (Incarnate Word Academy and St. Columbkille School)and combines the three school programs for concerts throughout the year. Mrs. Banyas is very happy to be a part of music education in the Catholic schools. As a St. Albert alumni, she especially likes bringing strings to this school. She enjoys bringing her groups together at concerts to help the students from different schools get along and work to make a beautiful sound. Mrs. Banyas spends much of her spare time playing the cello. She has been a member of the Parma Symphony Orchestra for many years and also plays at her parish of St. Luke's each Sunday. She enjoys getting together with friends to play chamber music too. Mrs. Banyas loves to knit, read and spend time with her husband and 2 grown children. Her excellent skills have been proven through her students receiving Superior ratings at OMEA Contests for years. Mrs. Banyas works continually with her students throughout the summer by participating at events such as the Cuyhoga County Fair. Mrs. Banyas teaches individual and group lessons during the school day at St. Albert's on Tuesday's.
