PTO Meeting Minutes

Attendees: Steve Thomspon, John Valvoda, Colleen Oxbrough, Mr.Brownfield, Stephanie Weber, Angela Marrero, Barb Liptak, Karen Maguire, Lauri Tarcha, Brian Haas, Guy Manias, Darrell Boff, Lori Ranieri, Scott Broski, Teresa Pickering.

Meeting time: 7:00pm -8:30pm
President: Steve Thompson called meeting to order.

Introductions were made
A. Fall Fest: Lori Ranieri
Lori reported that a 20 x 20 foot lighted tent was donated and it will house all the games for the Fall Fest. Set up of the tent will be Wed. October 14th in the evening. Steve Thompson agreed to MC the cake walk again this year. Two Fanny Pack money bags will be provided by Guy Manias to use at the cake walk station. Pizza and hot dogs will be served; extra slices will be sold for an additional cost. Event directors reminded Lori to be sure to contact all volunteers prior to the event.
B. Craft Fair: Karen Maguire
Karen reported that the tables for the craft fair are sold out. More non profits have
Requested tables this year and will be set up near Mrs. Ruh’s classroom. The
Menu for the craft fair has been updated to add soup and sandwiches. The chairs
Have discussed skipping the bakery sale this year. Karen reported that the event
Has enough volunteers but would like some men to help with the student
Volunteers for the day. Colleen Oxbrough and Cathy Rodjam will work that day to
Handle all the money for the event.
C Reverse Raffle Guy Manias, Darrell Boff and Brian Haas
The chairs reported that invitations were sent out to the day school and PSR
Families. Reservations will go to Rachel Manias, with 12 tables sold and hopes
To sell 40 tables. The DJ is reserved for the night and a request was made to
Update the play list this year. Brian Haas has reserved Highland Wine for a
Tasting at this years RR. 12 baskets plus 3 raffle prizes (including Bruce
Springsteen and Cavs vs. Bulls tickets) will be raffled off that night. A program
Will be created with a “RR for Dummies” explaining the main board and extra
Raffle boards and given to everyone at the event to help if someone is new to
This type of event. 24 volunteers have signed up to work the event. Colleen
Oxbrough will provide the committee with the money prizes 1 week prior to the
Event.
Teacher Update: Mrs. Kaminski
Mrs. Kaminski was not able to be at the meeting. No report.
School Update: Mr. Brownfield.
Mr. Brownfield reported that two workshops will be hosted at St. Albert
The Great focusing on the topic of Bullying. Loren McKeon will be presenting to the teacher’s and staff at an in service and she will also have a presentation for the parents. A dress down pass will be given out for attending the event. A suggestion was brought to Mr. Brownfield of creating a Parent Council to discuss and address the topic of bullying. Mr. Brownfield supports this council and will be in contact with the parent who suggested it to get the ball rolling.
Mr. Brownfield reminded the board that March 19th is the Feast of St. Joseph and will most likely be a day of dispensation for Catholics. He suggested having a meat option that week at the Fish Fry. He also reported a fish fry is not held on Good Friday due to the set up for Easter Mass on Sunday.
Treasurer: Colleen Oxbrough
Colleen requested to prepay for the year the PS Autopay bill she has been paying
Each month. All accounts have been updated with Fr. Estock as a signer on each
Account. Colleen is working on the quarterly financials and will send out to
The board members via email.
Secretary: Stephanie Weber
Stephanie requested feedback regarding the addition of the school menu to the
Friday Flier. Based on the feedback she will continue to add it. Stephanie
Requested information from Darrell Boff regarding the Reverse Raffle to add to
The Friday Flyer. Steve Thompson asked Stephanie to add the minutes of the
Meetings to the PTO website.
Vice President: John Valvoda
John Valvoda reported the Student Directory is at the printers. He will put up the
Artwork entries in the school and will provide Stephanie a list of students who
Sent in artwork to list in the Friday Flyer.

Steve Thompson reported great feedback from the New Parent Dinner and Meet
The teacher night. Thank you notes were sent by teachers who enjoyed both of
These events. Steve met with Father Estock regarding having a liquor license at
The fish fries this year. Father agreed to his request as long as there are
Wristbands monitoring the amount being served. Andrea Florjancic sent in a
Subway rewards program suggestion for the school. After discussion the board
Decided not to pursue it further this year. Lucy Malakar would like to head up the
Terracycle pouch brigade which would recycle juice pouches in the cafeteria with
A payout of 2 cents per pouch. Mr. Brownfield approved this. A suggestion for the
Great Race was given of creating a children’s course with students collecting
Pledges for each lap they completed of the course. Event chairs for this event are
Becka’s and Vasil’s. Steve reported the prize for MANNA this month is $100 of
Free MANNA, “squishy’s” have been ordered to use as give a ways or fund raisers
At upcoming events. Steve reported all chairs have been provided memory sticks
To put all event information on so they can easily be passed on from one year to the
Next. Steve had the window clings for donators, event chairs can contact him to tell
Him how many they need.
