Grade 5

Chapter 1 will help the students to appreciate God's gift of creation. We will recall that God is the creator of all things and that he created us in his image. We will also explore ways we can be stewards of creation using our God given talents to help protect the environment.

Grade 6

We begin the year by exploring the Bible. Our objective will be to discover the history, parts, and types of writing within this important book. We will also recognize the value of the Old Testament in understanding God and our Catholic faith.

Both 5 and 6

Here are a few suggestions to reinforce and guide your child's faith:

• Make prayer a part of your everyday family life.
• Share Bible stories you enjoyed hearing while growing up.
• Talk about faith, and share how God works in your life.
• Demonstrate service to others as Jesus did.
• Participate in Sunday liturgy.
• Show kindness and compassion to others.
• Enjoy nature together, making note that it is a gift from God and we need to take care of it.
