WEEK OF NOVEMBER 30, 2009
THEME – CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS
This theme of Christmas centers around the birth of Christ and the
traditions that families keep. This first week of our new theme we will be
reading the books: Night Tree by Eve Bunting; The Wild Christmas Reindeer by
Jan Brett and A Tree is Nice by Janice May Udry.
Thank you to the moms that helped with our Everybody Counts program.
MATH We will be reviewing math facts to10, plus and minus. Please be sure to
use those number fact cards from your supply list every night. Timed tests
will begin in January.
PHONICS We will be introducing the “ar” and “or” sounds.
HOMEWORK Monday – Math worksheet “Gingerbread Galore”; Tuesday – Math page
PW37; Wednesday – Math worksheet “Cookie Cottage”; Thursday – write three
sentences using the words reindeer, wild and gentle.
RELIGION These next few weeks we will be discussing Advent and the St.
Nicholas traditions. Look for information about an Advent activity coming
home soon.
The First and Second Grades are planning the Advent Prayer Service on
December 10. If your child brings home a reading part, please practice it and
again, keep it in his/her home folder so that we can practice at school.
