Weeks of November 16 & 23, 2009
Theme- Foods & Thanksgiving

THANK YOU again for your overwhelming kindness and generosity in sending in
fresh fruits and veggies for our food unit! Each day we sampled new foods
and the students were so good about giving everything a try. They really
enjoyed the nutritious goodies and even found some new favorites! Thanks also
to our drivers for our field trip to Kroger!

This week we will again be enjoying the theme of Foods. We will be reading
the books The Edible Pyramid, From Peanuts to Peanut Butter , Silly Tilly,
Thanksgiving with the Tappletons, Sometimes it’s Turkey, Sometimes it’s
Feathers!, A Turkey for Thanksgiving and The First Thanksgiving.

MATH – We will be working on strategies for learning subtraction facts.
Remember to study math facts every night.

PHONICS – The phonic lessons will be the long ‘u’ sounds and the review of
all the vowels with which we have been working.

Journal Writing: We will be writing about healthy foods and snacks as well
as things to do to stay healthy

On Tuesday we will have a presentation from the Everybody Counts program. We
will learn a little about what it is like to be hearing disabled. We will
also learn that even though one may have a disability that person still has
feelings just like us and wants to do the same things we do. Thank You to the
moms that are helping us with these activities.
